Safe zone
The safe zone is the middle area of a vertical video that no platform buttons, captions or usernames cover.
Why does it matter?
YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels each lay their own buttons along the right edge and their caption and username along the bottom. Text placed there is hidden on some apps. Keeping captions and key details in the centre of a 1080×1920 frame means one video reads well on all three.
