Content pillar

A content pillar is one of the three to five themes a brand posts about again and again, so every post has a clear reason to exist.

Why use pillars?

Pillars stop the blank-page problem. Instead of asking “what should we post?”, you ask “what's this week's tip, story and offer?”. They also teach viewers what to expect from you, which is what makes them follow.

What do good pillars look like?

For a local gym, for example:

  • Teach: one exercise done right.
  • Prove: a member's progress, with their permission.
  • Behind the scenes: a coach's day, the space before opening.
  • Offer: this month's trial or class.
